This season's hottest trend: Midi Skirts.

This season we’re talking a new language when it comes to skirts, and that is the midi skirts. From wearing them with a denim top to a sweater, you’ll never be dull or boring. Knowing how to captivate an audience is an essential skill, but knowing how to captivate it with the right looks is a whole other story of its own. You must not only need to have the proper attire, but you will most definitely need the attitude and confidence to go with it. I am a true believer that in order to look good you must feel good and comfortable with what you're wearing, always make sure to feel 100% in order to look 100%. Every season the racks are filled with new fun trends that makes us want to grab it all and just wear it at once, but nailing your chicest look is all about selecting the right pieces at the right time.

There are numerous ways to wear your favorite midi skirt by adding accessories and a pair of chic shoes. However,  keep in mind that overloading your look will make it look trashy rather than classy! That is something we want to avoid!
2014.7.4c.21_scenicDare to be bold, different, fun! Get out of your comfort zone and experiment with different styles and prints. A very cool way to add some sparkle to your outfit is by having cool and eye-catching prints on the fabric. Go for it.

Don't be shy to use different fabrics when out hunting for your new midi skirt. Meshed and tulle midi skirts will sure have you turning heads (in a good way) You can also choose different colors to have a wider range of options when looking for tops.
cn9027216One rule of thumb to keep in mind when shopping for midi skirts is the lenght! You do not want to go below or too close to your ankles, or else you'll be getting into the maxi-zone, and you do not want to go above your knees because you'll be in the mini-skirt zone. So yes, length does matter.

Less is definitely more when it comes to footwear.  This particular style of skirt is just a bit tricky when trying to pair it with your favorite pumps. I suggest staying away from booties if you are more in the shorter side, this will make your already short legs look even shorter. Try going for heeled sandals or pumps, it'll make your figure appear slimmer instantly.

ways of Looking cute even when it's cold outside!

I know for a fact that many of us if given the chance to move to a state or country where there is no snow or frigid climate, we would jump on the opportunity in a heartbeat, or am I wrong chicas? Bad news is, we're still here and unfortunately for us, we have to continue the daily struggle of dealing with all that mother nature sends our way. Great news is, we can still look stunningly gorgeous even if it's negative zero degrees outside.
There are numerous ways to look super cute and chic even when we have to cover up like a burrito. We can always accessorize with different cute items like a nice hat, scarf, gloves or even a pair of furry boots. Like stated before, accessories will either make or break your look! If you're not exactly in the mood to layer up too much but have concerns of freezing your little behind, you can always wear clothing that will keep you warm while still looking cute. Fabrics like wool or fleece will definitely do the job, try to stay away from cotton if you're looking to stay warm. A great way to also keep yourself cozy is to wear leggings and a long sleeve top under your outfit.
coat
Don't let the cold weather or snow ruin your fun! Layering cute pieces like a turtle neck sweater and a cropped  jacket will definitely do the job.

Always have fun with the colors you choose to wear! Just because it's winter does not mean you can't rock cool and fun colors. Give those boring winter colors a rest, step out of your comfort zone and explore different fashion possibilities.

As usual, don't forget to add your personal touch by accessorizing! A nice clutch or your favorite ring (s) will take your outfit from boring to cool real quick. The whole point is to have a great time putting your outfit together.

When it comes to footwear, you don't necessarily have to go for heels or uncomfortable shoes. A cute pair of flats or nice flat boots will do just fine. An alternative to wearing open toe booties is to wear socks with them, yes, you read right, socks!!

And there you have it! There shall be no more excuses to not look your best even if it's freezing outside. You can get similar or same items I'm wearing Here: Jacket (Zara) Similar, Sweater, Pants (H&M) Similar Booties (Easy Pickins) Similar Clutch (Aldo) Similar.

When in doubt, wear a sweater dress!

Throughout the years and for many centuries there has indeed been a number of many amazing creations like electricity for example, you must be wondering what does electricity have to do with fashion? Well, it was a great invention and has been greatly used, correct? The same can definitely be said about the infamous sweater dress, especially for some of us that are literally always shivering and freezing to death. The sweater dress is a very versatile piece of clothing, that is, of course, if you're not wearing a sweater dress that was recently knitted by your grandmother as a Christmas present, not that it would be a bad thing, but I'm not exactly sure that our grannies are much updated on the latest runway collections.
There are endless options when it comes to choosing the perfect sweater dress, and I'm not just talking about colors. There are different lengths, textures, designs, you can even choose to add your very own personal touch.
dress
Styling a sweater dress can be the easiest thing to do, but for someone who is afraid of coming outside the box might just be a very complex task. Number one rule, Be bold! yes, bold. This look calls for very daring and unique pieces, don't be afraid to dig in your closet for your most stylish items, they'll be helpful to complete this look.
knee
The best part of wearing a sweater dress is that you can actually dress it up or down as you please! For a more casual look, simply look for a sweater dress that does not have much of a layering or exaggerated neck. If you're looking for a more fun and daring piece, choose a sweater with fun textures and appliqués.

As with any other look, what will definitely give life to your already fabulous outfit will indeed be the accessories. Most sweater dresses are shapeless and with a straight cut, by adding a belt at the waist line your silhouette will appear to be contoured therefore adding a beautiful shape to your dress.
auto
Let's not forget about the footwear! A sleek chic shoe will definitely make this outfit that much more powerful. An over-the-knee boot will definitely be a great addition.
nothing
Last but not least, layering! You can add a nice chunky scarf, leather jacket or even a nice beanie. Sweater dress, Boots: (Truth or dare by Madonna) Similar, Clucth: (Aldo) Similar.

The new obsession: Gaucho Pants!

I know you guys are more than likely used to my continuous obsessions over everything (Literally)! This time around it's with Gaucho pants. I think I love everything about these pants, length, width, shape, just everything about it. Gaucho pants are extremely comfortable and the best part: Versatile! Can be worn with just about anything and still look super classy and chic. They come in different colors and material.

Make sure to grab a pair for this coming spring and have fun styling it! You can wear them with a sweater, button down, tank top or a blazer like I did. As far as accessories you can choose whatever piece makes you feel comfortable, just try not to over do it or it'll end up taking away from the outfit.

Pants: Forever21 Blazer: H&M Pumps: Neiman Marcus

Love Flaws & ALL turns 1

If there is 1 promise I'll be able to keep its the promise that it can't and won't  possibly get any cheesier than this post! Don't judge me, it's my 1st year anniversary and I'm beyond excited.

Ok, by now you guys probably got the point! I think I'll cut the finger signs now.

Exactly 1 year ago today I came up with the magnificent idea of creating a fashion blog. No, it did not just suddenly happen! There was a lot of analyzing and thinking invested prior to making the decision to go ahead and create one. So why exactly did I start a fashion blog? I can probably sit here and go on and on as to the many reasons why I decided to do so, but I'll keep it plain and simple.

After carefully  analyzing all the pros and cons of having and maintaining a fashion blog, (which most are cons for me due to my full-time schedule and school at the time) I decided to go for it, not for monetary compensation, not to become Instagram or social media famous, not to get freebies or attend events, I did it for the simple reason of being able to maybe inspire or motivate at least 1 person to see the beauty and uniqueness that we all possess as individuals. I want my blog to be a little more than just fashion, but I'll talk about that in a later post.

Yes, It's an overwhelming amount of work that goes into keeping up with a blog, it's not easy having to get someone to take your pictures when it's freezing or overly hot outside, it's not easy having to write a 400 word post for a magazine and another few hundreds for a personal blog especially when you're beyond tired from your full-time job. It's not easy to always stay on top of trends and have to maintain a daily interaction in social media, IT IS NOT EASY but I'm up for the challenge.

I LOVE dressing up, I love looking and feeling my best, I do it for me, it's my hobby and it keeps me sane. When I first created Instagram 2 years ago, I mainly  posted pictures of my weekend outfits and my favorite beauty pieces and accessories which in return attracted many people with the same interests. I started with 20 followers who were mostly friends and family, within 6 months I reached about 3,000 thousand followers just by random people looking at my daily posts and liking my style.

I started receiving many requests and questions about styling and where my pieces were purchased, which led me to consider a blog.Within this time, I met Elizabeth Marte, creator of 1 of the most successful and influential fashion blogs who created a path for me in the fashion world. I can't thank her enough for helping me achieve and overcome many of my fears of creating a blog.

I receive many emails from individuals who don't exactly feel great about their physical appearance for a number of reasons. Many have a lot of insecurities and feel like they don't have the confidence  to look good in whatever it is they want to wear, often times asking for advice on how to feel good about themselves when wearing something... That right there is reason enough for me to continue doing what I love, being able to help someone even if it's just by telling them what to wear.

I have had indeed many amazing moments in my 1 year of blogging, like meeting great and inspiring people and having the opportunity to write for an online Latina magazine! Never in a million years did I think that someone would like my style enough to have me become a member of their team,  Chicafresh has indeed opened a door for me in the fashion/blogger world and I'll forever be grateful for such opportunity.

THANK YOU to all my 50+ thousand followers for following my journey and watching me grow in this crazy but rewarding experience, thank you for all the amazing comments and likes, thanks for believing in me.

Pieces worn here are all very old (most) Here are similar pieces. Coat, Pants, Top, Pumps, Clutch

Fashion Week 2015

Day 1 of Fashion week was indeed brutal for me. With single digit temperatures and furious winds that made it nearly impossible to walk. I had no other choice but to add socks to my fur booties, yes, socks!

If you guys have been following me for a while, then you already know that my love for black is real! I decided to go with this kimono style jacket and front split skirt, a fur vest and to add life to this look I added a colorful clutch for a pop of color. You can find this outfit here: Top, Skirt, Booties

My 2nd day at Fashion week was definitely more fashion friendly (not as cold) As you can see, this season is all about Fur (faux fur) I am  definitely taking advantage of this trend.

Don't be afraid of layering your outfit, when done the correct way, it will look amazing, trust me! You can find the items i'm wearing here: Skirt, Top, (it's a dress) Booties, Clutch, Jacket (Similar)

Can you guys tell I'm obsessed with front split skirts? well, I am! I think they're super cute and flirty. you can find it here: Skirt, Boots, Top, Bag (similar)

With the amazing Mexican celebrity designer: Cesar Galindo.
Always a great time to chat with a group of very inspiring and amazing woman. From left to right,
My amazing friend and fellow blogger Yessi, amazing how you can get to appreciate and learn from another person in such a small amount of time. Falicia fracassi, Owner of the prestige chain of lash parlors and T.V host. Shareen Medina, a beauty, fashion & lifestyle blogger. The very sweet Martha Luna who is Editor in chief of Mdollnyc.com. Kyrzayda Rodriguez, an amazing and talented fellow fashion blogger. Manuela Luna (Me) expert in ruining group photos with a stank face 1 picture at a time.

Omg guys, Biggest apologies ever for such a long disappearing act from my blog.
As with every other year, Fashion week is definitely the most awaited week for every fashionista, and with it comes the headache, stress and chaos. For many, Fashion week is all about the street style and the diverse fashion that is seen all throughout NYC. For others, like myself, it's a time to appreciate and see the hard work and dedication invested in creating the perfect designs and bring them to life.

I was grateful to be able to experience such incredible event and witness the excitement and fun of fashion week. The Mongol collection was absolutely amazing, the use of raw and vibrant fabrics was indeed my favorite. As usual, the academy of art university which showcases various aspiring student designers completely went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations with their outstanding presentations. I was also able to see some of  Mexican Celebrity designer Cesar Galindo's work, and all I can say is "breathtaking" absolutely marvelous. Great experience indeed.
